How do you promote your web comics, or any other web venture for that matter, without spamming people? And please don't say "search engeines" or "word-of-mouth" because those methods don't seem to work for me.

Re: Web promotion (again and again and a...)
Mon, April 17, 2006 - 10:20 AMFliers are one of the cheapest ways to advertise, and they can be pretty effective too. Take or mail them to comic book stores and conventions. But don't go to Kinkos. Kinkos sucks now. Bad quality and too expensive. Here's a link to a good quality, cheap printing company and they'll ship your order.
chromaticprinting.com
You can get 5,000 fliers for about $200.
For that price at kinkos I only got 500... (jerks)

Mon, April 17, 2006 - 1:38 PMI fogot to mention that I don't want to here about flyer promos either. I've been doing flyers for countless years and they rarely ever work. As for Stinko's, I mean Kinko's, I haven't gone there for years. I prefer Office Depot for my copies since there's one so close to my house.

Mon, April 17, 2006 - 5:57 PMThen maybe give away stickers with your website address and some artwork. Those are more fun to get than fliers. Or just have a bunch of bumper-type stickers made and stick them all over town so people will see them everyday. Just wear gloves so they can't prove it's you. Ya might get in trouble. Hmm, Maybe I should try that one. Or purchase some ad space on popular websites. That's a little more expensive though. You can also advertise in Wizard magazine. Check their website. -

Wed, April 19, 2006 - 6:54 AMI did try posting stickers all over town, and it had no measurable effect. And getting a write up in a local paper or magazine is even more impracticle. Though I was able to accomplish that a couple of times about 15 years ago, these days publishers would rather eat plutonium than give me coverage!
