im going to make a zine called "how to draw a comic book that doesnt suck". if anyone wants to vent, or talk about what bugs them the most about (bad) comics, either post here, email me, or draw a 2-3 page snippet about *usefull* tips for aspiring comics artists. they should have a smart-ass tone but still be helpfull- ie, "step one-learn to draw" isnt as helpfull as say, "step one: buy a ruler" or "step twenty-seven: tips to help balance your page".
tips on perspective, blackwork, inking, pencils, characters, etc are great as long as they are in laymans terms. i will pay for this to be printed (kinkos at first, better later). both text and comics submissions will be considered (if something is WAY to complicated for the beginer, i wont print it...)
some more things that might be addressed in the book:
-varying line thickness/width
-cheaply printing your comic
-how to draw boobs (you know you need that bit of info)
-"cheat sheet" for hands, shading...etc
-panel placement
-cloth basics
i want this to be out by comic con..so...get cracking. word. this is, obviously, a no-pay job- all profit will go back into printing more of the zine. your contact info and website will go either at the end of the book or in your submission.
please, dont be offended by any of this. this isnt a jab at anyone, just a fun project.

Re: call for submisisons
Sun, June 12, 2005 - 5:29 PMHey Meredith, I'd love to submit something. When's the deadline? I'm really really busy with comics deadlines, but I can see myself contributing something if the deadline for your zine is far enough away. And if your contributors really know how to draw a comic book that doesn't suck, heh heh heh. :)
